The GATE Programme at Ardmore School is designed to take an inclusive and holistic approach to meeting the needs of gifted and talented students.

Our goal is to provide catalysts for gifted students to turn their potential (giftedness) into performance (talent).

This means that we try to:

• identify goals with students and parents for gifted and talented students to help them meet their potential
• look for potential in students who may be underachieving and/or twice-exceptional (gifted + a learning issue)
• identify ways to provide new opportunities for students, both in and out of the classroom
• support students learning, social and emotional needs.

As each student has unique needs, programmes for GATE students are planned with the individual classroom teacher. Withdrawal or pull out programmes may be an option for some students based on identified needs (e.g. Otago Maths; Future Problem Solving...)
